Menstrual Cycle Hormones: Changes in Energy and Mood
Read the transcript · 213 words
You're not crazy. You're not losing it. Women just have a 28-day cycle.
Women are not inconsistent, but we do have a 28-day cycle that kind of feels like it. And the moment that you stop paying attention to it, it can feel like everything's falling apart. We've been told that exhaustion, gaining weight, losing hair, losing your energy drive, all that, that's just getting older.
And then we just assume that we just have to push through it, eat less, work out more, stop complaining. But that advice is great if nothing inside you is actually changing. However, your hormones, 28-day cycle, everything that's controlling your energy, metabolism, skin, mood, sleep, they all start shifting in your late 20s and it's not going to stop.
When you understand what's actually happening, why is cortisol spiking? Why is progesterone dropping? Why am I storing fat differently now?
You can actually stop blaming yourself for feeling all over the place and finally understand what the root cause is. And when you understand what's going on and when you can take action on it, that's when you finally feel like yourself again. So this is why it's so important to understand your 28 day cycle and understand just what naturally happens as we get older
The Luteal Phase: Progesterone, Mood and Energy
Read the transcript · 187 words
Ladies, the week before our periods, our brain is telling us that everything is falling apart. Relationships not working. Body's a mess.
Nothing you're doing matters anymore. And I need you to hear this. That is not the truth, alright?
That is hormones playing tricks on us. So what happens is our progesterone is just shooting up. Estrogen down.
And our nervous system is like fight or flight mode, so everything seems like a threat. This is when we're in our luteal phase, so this is not a time to be quitting or spiraling. And if you're in this mode, it is not best to make any big decisions.
During the luteal phase, when our progesterone is high and estrogen is tanked, this is a great time to just be more mindful about what we're putting into our bodies, getting good sleep, and just being gentle with yourself, giving yourself some grace. Because when we have knowledge and we understand what's going on within our bodies, what our cycle is, you stop letting temporary hormonal shifts make permanent big decisions in your life that could be catastrophic.
HRT and Menstrual Periods: Can Bleeding Return?
Read the transcript · 138 words
Can HRT bring back your period? Short answer, absolutely it can. If your period is missing because your hormones are too low, improving your progesterone and estrogen can help restore your cycle.
HRT stands for hormone replacement therapy. So it's not just for testosterone, it can help improve all of your hormones. It's easy to confuse with TRT, but TRT is testosterone replacement therapy and that only targets your testosterone.
HRT has so many benefits just in general. It can help improve your mood, your sex drive, recovery and repair, put on more muscle, and just helps you feel better in general. If you're a woman who doesn't have a regular cycle or it's just non-existent, definitely talk to one of the doctors that built to be well and see if hormone replacement therapy could potentially benefit you.
